The DHL Relay Race in Copenhagen is one of the world’s largest mass participation sporting events, attracting thousands of participants from companies across the country each year. In 2025, Damasec Event Systems provided security solutions for the event, focusing on effective and discreet protection of participants against vehicle-based threats.

Security Setup and Products
At the 2025 DHL Relay Race, the mobile vehicle barrier system Armis One was deployed in Denmark for the first time. Armis One was installed at the main entrance and finish area, ensuring controlled access and protection against vehicles. The system is certified as a standalone unit and offers:

• Manual lowering of barrier segments for rapid access by emergency vehicles and deliveries
• Ultra-fast deployment – a 6-metre-wide access road can be secured in approx. 15 minutes
• Low penetration depth (only 8.3 metres upon impact) – ideal for urban environments with limited space
• Modular design and flexible logistics – easy to transport and store
• Passage width of up to 4.8 metres when two segments are lowered – suitable for lorries and fire engines

Additionally, the Surface Guard barrier system was used at Trianglen and Rigshospitalet to close major vehicle routes, while cycle paths remained open. Surface Guard is an award-winning modular HVM (Hostile Vehicle Mitigation) solution that is:

• Fully surface-mounted – requires no excavation
• Lightweight and easy to install – can be handled without machinery
• Pedestrian and cyclist-friendly – ensures access without creating a “fortress” feel
• Designed to handle road conditions such as kerbs and elevation differences
• Certified to IWA 14-1 standards with high resistance to vehicle impact

Logistics and Execution
Installation began in the morning the day before the first race day. Damasec Event Systems’ team ensured fast and efficient deployment of the barriers, which were adapted to the specific access routes and traffic conditions around Fælledparken. The focus was on securing the most exposed areas while maintaining general accessibility for participants and cyclists.

Result
The event proceeded without any security incidents, and the solution was praised by both organisers and participants for its discreet presence and functionality.
